Trillion: God of Destruction PC Review

Strategy role playing games aren’t my natural forte; I lend my skills to twitchier, action oriented games which Trillion: God of Destruction is most certainly not. My only experience with sRPG’s to date are the Fire Emblem series which I’m not innocent from save scumming, and watching a few friends mill through Final Fantasy Tactics on a whim. Compile Heart takes some bold steps with their title, and throwing in rudimentary visual novel dialogue here and there certainly makes for a compelling mix of genres, but there’s a lot that is left to be desired with Trillion that asked me if I was really being rewarded for my efforts, and if the unique concepts they threw in really made up for it.

The Games We Played: Max Payne 3

image

By: RJ (@rga_02)

Max Payne 3 sat in my PlayStation 3 hard drive for about close to a year now. I got the game last fall as a part of a Red Dead Redemption bundle PSN was offering for $5. Now as this summer draws to a close I decided to tackle the game in further to slim down my backlog. I didn’t know to expect from the game to be honest. I know that some people enjoyed it and loathed it. Clickbliss’ very own editor-in-chief Omar seemed to enjoy it (after all, why else would they have two copies of the game) – so I decided to play it and throw out my two cents on the game to the sea of nuanced opinions out there. (spoiler: I enjoyed it immensely)

Our (late) impressions of Bit Bash: Cool Jazz

image

By: Omar (@siegarettes) & RJ (@rga_02)

After a lengthy gourmet meal at McDonalds we decided to swing over to Bit Bash’s Cool Jazz to indulge ourselves into the wonderful world of indie gaming. It was held at the Bottom Lounge. Despite the cramped surroundings, the atmosphere was very relaxed and upbeat. Realizing there were more than just overpriced drinks here, we decided to talk about games.

Short Review - Trillion: God of Destruction

By: RJ (@rga_02)

  • Trillion: God of Destruction

To be honest, I had no clue what to expect from Trillion: God of Destruction. I didn’t pay much attention to the PR emails I was getting and all I knew it was made by some ex-Disgaea folks. When I was downloading the game I thought this was going to be just like Disgaea but with a Compile Heart twist. In the end, I wished it was like Disgaea.

Megadimension  Neptunia VII review

Nep Nep is no longer held back by the power of the cell. This time we get to see Neptune and co. shine in 8 GBs of GDDR5. Compile Heart’s Neptunia series has finally landed on the 8th generation of consoles, but will it offer anything new and exciting other than a fresh coat of paint?

Short Reviews - Evangelion New Theatrical Edition: 3nd Impact

By: RJ (@rga_02)

  • Evangelion New Theatrical Edition: 3nd Impact
  • Developer - Grasshopper Manufacturer
  • Publisher - Namco Bandai
  • PlayStation Portable
  • Rating - CERO C

*Note: This game is in Japanese only.

Here’s a heads up. The core staff of this site….well mostly Omar, Ryan, and I love Evangelion. (Well I’m not sure about Omar, but I’m sure he appreciates it) Heck, our site runs on Evangelion jokes (Editors Note: *insert long rant about what convoluted nonsense Evangelion 3.33 is, even by Eva standards).

3nd Impact is a wonderful rhythm game based around the music featured in the reboot movies. The name is a pun on third impact. With third being pronounced as saado in Japanese and combined with -nd, it is some weird hybrid word that makes it pronounced as sound. So “Sound Impact”. It sounds silly, the name sounds silly, but it’s actually pretty dang good.

The PlayStation Vita is a hotbed of rhythm games ranging from Hatsune Miku, Cytus Lambda, Persona 4 Dancing All Night, and DJ Max to name a few. The newest kid on the block is SUPERBEAT: XONiC made by Nurijoy, the fine folks who brought us DJ Max. However will this game make you forget the Risettes and Mikus of the world?

Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Review

Second Opinion By: Omar (siegarettes)

  • Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax
  • Developer - French Bread & Ecole Software
  • Publisher - SEGA
  • PlayStation Vita & PlayStation 3
  • Rating - T

Have you ever imagined what would if feel like to pin Akira from Virtua Fighter against Kirino? Or Selvaria from Valkryia Chronicles against Mikoto? I didn’t. If you did however, your dreams can come true in Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax. A 2D fighting game featuring everyone’s favorite characters from various light novels under the Dengeki Bunko label with a few SEGA characters sprinkled in. Sounds like an otaku’s dream game. What about the rest of us though? Who doesn’t care about the Sword Art Onlines or Accel Worlds. Would this game appeal to the people who just want to play a fun fighting game?
