Wake up, time for us to Taksówkarz

Every week I will be showcasing one album and a video game that I feel everyone should check out in their spare time. Today, those two will be Śmierć w miękkim futerku by Niechęć and The World Ends With You.

Śmierć w miękkim futerku by Niechęć
I can’t even pronounce the title of the album without somehow pronouncing in Spanish or French but this is what modern jazz should be. The Polish outfit Niechęć has produced very magical (and not in a magical™) sort of way, but something that can easily transport you to a different state of mind. Heck, even a different world. Every track brings out a different mood to your body. Be it you you want crave something sensual or you feel you are being haunted by an outside force. This album has it all from start to finish. And it delivers it in a blend of modern surrealism and classic jazz. This might be a little cliché, but this is seriously the perfect album to listen to on a rainy day while you are strolling through downtown.

The World Ends With You (TWEWY) is perhaps the best game to come out of the DS library. Imagine yourself in Tokyo and all the sudden a JPOP just starts blasting through the air and a flurry monsters come out towards you. And it’s up to you to beat them up - in style. That is TWEWY in a nutshell. This game fully uses the DS hardware to its advantage. You’ll be using both the d-pad and the touchscreen to fight your way through Tokyo. You probably won’t care for the story, but art, soundtrack and battle system will always have you craving for more.
