The Sydney Opera House, The Great Pyramids, The Bean. All will represent their respective locations with pride and joy. And Dong will perhaps represent the PS Vita with the same resentment. Dong is nothing original - yet it’s something blissful. Something alluring just screams out of it. And it’s all through the palm of your hands.

Gameplay & Multiplayer

Dong maintains the tried and true formula of Pong, but this time, it’s on your beautiful PS Vita screen. The mechanics are simple enough. You are on a quest to beat your opponent. You want to get that block to their end. You want to see them suffer. Yet at the same time, you must protect your turf at all cost. Whatever it takes, And Dong teaches you that. What makes Dong great however is that you can increase the difficulty of your enemy. So if you feel like you are facing a turtle, you can now face a dangerous kitty. And if you also don’t feel like battling a soulless robot - you can face your friends in this magical game.

Art & Music

Dong is a straightforward game. And with a game like that it makes sense that it has graphics straight to the point. Simplicity is the key here and it shines bright. This game doesn’t run on UE3 or Cryengine and it shows, but it doesn’t need that at all. It presents you a dark void with while shapes reminding that you are on a mission to beat your enemy, and that doesn’t need anything fancy whatsoever. Music is also lacking, but that’s a good thing. You only hear the sounds of your paddle and dong. It brings out a lonely and tense atmosphere. Fitting for the game.

Dong will sadly be forgotten in lieu of other PlayStation Vita games. But this game brings forth a titillation like no other in your body. I once said in a previous review of mine that the Vita will be remembered for Monster Hunter clones, indies and Monster Monpiece. However, I was wrong. It will be remembered for one thing and one thing only. And that would be Dong.
