I have a high tolerance for mediocre games. For longtime readers of clickbliss, that is pretty evident. But from time to time there are some games that I don’t even have words for. Games that even I can’t find anything to enjoy - even through an ironic point of view.

Sword and Fairy 6 is one of those games. Upon startup you are already greeted with a poor impression. The beginning sequence is so comically mistranslated that you wonder if they did this through a machine translation.

Then as the game starts, you are greeted by the characters who have amnesia of course, and are tasked to stop a maniacal cult. The overall plot combines Chinese mythology with other RPG tropes, but it is hard to follow due to the pacing and mistranslated of the text.

As you walk around the the PS2 inspired environment (and even then some PS2 games look better), you’ll start to notice that the frame rate will start dropping. But it doesn’t stop there. Once you enter a battle, the frame is so awful it is nearly unplayable. I am not exaggerating here. There are moments where it will drop below 15 fps. If you can get past the literal slideshow, button inputs also lag and will require you to press a couple more times for anything to register.

There are also moments where performing basic actions can also be unbearable such as a lagging menu or moving around camera angles.

It is a shame that the game has to perform like this because the battle system is actually interesting. It draws a lot of inspiration from Final Fantasy XIII, which had a pretty great battle system. Like in the aforementioned title, you control your selected character, choose a prompt (if you can) and wait for the bar to fill up.

This game is very broken - to the point where even calling it unpolished would be an understatement. You are better off playing another game if you want to do something with your time.
