Every week we’ll be recommending you a game, and either an album or a movie to check out. This week we’re recommending Memories of Link and The Damned United.
Memories of Link
Memories of Link is a nice little hidden gem in the midst of all of the mobile rhythm games out in the market right now. Apart from the cluttered menu, the game has surprisingly great visuals and a robust library filled with licensed songs. The song lists range from covers from prominent J bands such as Garnidelia to a myriad of Vocaloid songs.
The actual gameplay is akin to SUPERBEAT: XONiC where instead of a traditional lane, notes come towards the side of the screen. But like with any mobile game, you are limited to the number of songs you can play until you have to go through a cooldown period.
Character customization is also present here. While it isn’t anything in-depth, there are still a fair amount of costumes and hairstyles that you can play around with.
Memories of Link is available through the Japanese iTunes or store, or if you have an android device, you can get the .apk here.
The Damned United
It is a bit weird to talk about a movie around football after recommending your a-typical weeaboo mobile game, but hear me out on this. This movie is pretty damn good (no pun intended) if you ask me.
The movie is an adaptation of the book of the same title chronicling Brian Clough’s managerial term with English club Derby County. You get a feeling of schadenfreude while watching the film, you want to see Clough fail at his new job because of how disgustingly cocky he is. You might end up getting that wish, but not without being totally engrossed along the way.
