Our weekly recs is back!
Every week we’ll be recommending you a game, and either an album or a movie to check out. This week I am going to recommend the album Baby Action by SCANDAL and Soul Sacrifice Delta.
I’m bad at album reviews despite me doing a couple of them for this site. I’m not able to bring out the “soul” of the album in words like one of our contributors Kevin. But that shortcoming won’t stop me from writing about them.
Baby Action is SCANDAL’s third full-length album released in 2011. A lot of international fans blasted the album for being filled with “cookie-cutter radio jingles,” but sometimes you need that generic fill in your life.
For example, the opening song “Glamorous You” sounds like some typical anime cutscene song where the protagonist is getting ready for their first day of school. Is it generic? Hell yeah it is, but it sounds good. “Love Survive” isn’t as generic, but very upbeat. “Haruka” is a sweet melody to mellow things out while “One Piece” brings out the sweet sound of melodies straight to your ear.
- Soul Sacrifice Delta
- Developer - Marvelous AQL, SCEJ
- Publisher - SCE
- PS Vita
I loved the original Soul Sacrifice, I sunk over a hundred hours on it. The story was “edgy” and nonsensical, but the gameplay was top-notch. Delta isn’t much of a sequel to the original game, but more so of an expansion pack. There are new factions, pacts, a revamped customization system, and so on. Unlike other “hunting” games where it becomes a huge chore to progress, Delta’s masks all of the mundane grindings with a nice learning curve that is downright engaging and addicting.
Well, that’s it for this edition of weekly recs. See you next time in 2023.
