The Games We Played is a year-end round up of thoughts about games we spent time with.
It’s been a while since my beloved 765 productions has been featured on a portable title. The last “true” game were Shiny Festa for the PSP and iOS devices. You could count Must Songs for the Vita – but those were just skinned Taiko games. When Theater Days was announced for mobile I was excited, I would finally have my idols I know and love in my pocket once again.
Theater Days is a mobage rhythm game based on Million Live! which focused on all of the 765PRO idols and a bunch of others I can’t be bothered to grow attached to. Upon launching the game I was greeted with some Haruka looking reject and others. The moment I got a hold of Miki and Haruka I kicked out the girls I didn’t know. Eventually I was able to replace all those million rejects with other OG 765 girls.
It may sound harsh to some that I’m neglecting the upcoming generation of idols but I don’t got time for that. Eventually I might adore them like I do with 765PRO and some Cinderella Girls characters but for the time being I’m sticking with the ones I know. You might think that I’m old and bitter – and I probably am.
Theatre Days follows the same template as Starlight Stage.
- Acquire login jewels
- Play a song
- Roll for your idol of choice
- Didn’t get your idol of choice
- Buy jewels
- Roll Again
- Don’t get your idol of choice
- Maybe play a song
And repeat
Thankfully, I didn’t spend a lot of money in this game since I don’t like a majority of the characters in this game.
The music is pretty decent. Not a lot of standout songs but there are some bangers in there such as Marionette, Blue Symphony and Growing Storm!
The game is overall solid. Apart from some pretentious opinions I have on the newer idols which I will get over eventually, I’ve enjoyed my time with this and I highly recommend this to anyone out there.
