I tend to treat my VNs (Visual Novels) like how my mother treats her telenovelas. Go in with the highest expectations possible only to be disappointed in the end. Nurse Love Addiction was a shakeup to that formula. I came in expecting nothing due to it being a Yuri based (I’m no fan of both Yuri and Yaoi genres). I’ve always had some sort of perception that both genres were nothing but just filled with nonsensical fanservice to the brink – and that gets boring very fast. However Nurse Love Addiction turned out to be a sweet heartwarming story.

Nurse Love Addiction stars the pink haired heroine by the name of Asuka Osachi. She is accompanied by her younger sister, Nao. Both enrolled in nursing school with the hopes of being the best nurse in the land – but not really. Asuka seemed to choose this career path on a whim while her sister tagged along. As both get settled to their new environment they meet the tsundere Sakuya, her flirtatious videogame loving girlfriend Itsuki and the homeroom teacher, Kaeda Ohara. Your sister, Sakuya, Itsuki and Kaeda are the four characters that you can choose to have a relationship with. I love me some tsuns, but for this game I went with Itsuki.

The game is split into three parts and showcases various life events involving Asuka and company. Ranging from cosplay meetups, hospital internships and to the nurse capping ceremony. I was personally surprised to see a lot of personality within the characters.  Like I said earlier I’ve always thought that Yuri/Yaoi based VNs were nothing but a can filled with fanservice but not Nurse Love Addiction. While there were some moments that were pleasing to the eye, I wasn’t drawn to that, I was more into the range of emotions I felt while playing the game. At given points during the game I went shouting “Dammmn, did she really say that!” to feeling so sympathetic to a fictional character (Remember they’re “real in your heart” though). This game had wonderful writing that didn’t make me fall asleep like other VNs out in the market. It was just so heartfelt.

The biggest appeal to me however was the art direction. The characters were drawn in a pastel look and that contributed to the whole vibe of the game. It gave a sense of purity to all characters.

Although I got the bad ending, I enjoyed my time with Nurse Love Addiction. The warmth of the dialog and characters compelled me to see it to the end, and it will certainly help me achieve a better ending for Asuka.
