To be honest, I had no clue what to expect from Trillion: God of Destruction. I didn’t pay much attention to the PR emails I was getting and all I knew it was made by some ex-Disgaea folks. When I was downloading the game I thought this was going to be just like Disgaea but with a Compile Heart twist. In the end, I wished it was like Disgaea.

The protagonist of the game is Zeabolos, the Great Demon Lord of the underworld and Satan’s grandson. One day there was a giant monster called the Trillion decided to show up and Zeabolos decides to take on the monster. Like with every hero movie out there, our protagonist fails and ends up on the brink of death. Dying on the field and young woman by the name of Faust comes and breaks a deal with him. In exchange for his soul, she’ll help defeat Trillion. The story is really silly, but what can you expect from a Compile Heart game?

Basically you pick your initial warrior of choice (I chose the Yoko wannabe looking one) send them out to the field to gradually reduce the HP of Trillion and wish for the best. The battle takes place on a grid mimicking a traditional sRPG game such as Disgaea but the movement around the battlefield was very frustrating. To move around the field you have to rotate the camera to your desired position. That doesn’t sound like it is much of a hassle but the controls tend to get a bit stiff.

Gameplay wise, for those who love rouge games you will fall in love with Trillion. Loot, grind and train and send your character out in the field to gradually defeat Trillion. Of course being a Compile Heart game, you need to raise the affections of you characters by giving them gifts and such. It’s more than just the act of “waifuisms” but it also effects her while out on the field. The more love you give to her, the more chance of survival she has on the field.

Trillion: God of Destruction is an interesting game with a nice concept. Personally it wasn’t a memorable game, but it wasn’t a bad game either. If you’re looking for something fresh to play on your Vita, give this game a shot.
