Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth2: Sisters Generation is a turn based RPG, a remake of Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 that came out in 2011. Read our original review of the game here.

I have not played this game on any other formats, or any Hyperdimension game really.. I feel like this game on PC was a bit of a drag to play. And I’m sure it’s much better to play on the Vita just for convenience sake. Having to sit through what seemed like 20 minutes of intros with text and voice overs, there were some short movies but for the most part it was just clicking X to proceed. There were certain bits in the dialogue that are quite good though.

To a first time player though the game takes some getting used to, the controls are a hurdle at first. Ugh why can’t I just keep stabbing and slicing away at this bad guy? Ugh why do I have to switch to a different character in the middle of game play? Seriously though, it seems that I could just keep riding one character and could kill the dumb Dogoo or whatever it’s called.

The game though does get a bit more difficult and requires much more skill as you progress. I was surprised when I found myself losing to one of the ASIC Underlings was quite frustrating. But I kept on and loaded to the last save point and skipped through the dialogue I’ve already heard  to try to do it right, I read the objective and tips more comprehensively and suddenly  it was not that hard… once you understand what you need to do.  The fighting system is pretty simple you attack the opponent one after the other.

The games pokes fun at the game industry as a whole, it pokes fun at the gamer culture, concerns of piracy.

All things considered though, there’s nothing much bad things to say about the game (I probably would of have appreciated this game more if I have started from the original), besides pretty run-of-the-mill fighting system. It’s good for what it is. I love that its a satire on the gaming industry, I think the artwork is good and the music is not bad.
