Southeastern Hill Climb? Sure.

Every week we’ll be recommending you a game and an album to check out. This week I’m recommending a country album… we’ll sorta… Southeastern by Jason Isbell and
Hill Climb Racing.

This week my recommendation for an album is Jason Isbell’s 2013 release Southeastern. This album has some of the best songwriting you will ever hear. Southeastern came after Isbell’s time in a rehab facility. Isbell was a former member of the Drive-by Truckers from 2001- 2007, this album though brought something out from Isbell that we hadn’t seen in his solo work before. His first album was considered a failure, though he redeemed himself in this one, and then some.
The album has a whole lot of stories to tell, the song “Elephant” is about cancer, but told from the perspective of a man in a bar hearing stories from others. The album doesn’t linger at all at his alcoholism or rehab but rather is a hopeful album. Some would say more mature.
“Traveling Alone”, talks about the long years of touring and being alone. Isbell talks about his past demons as well as leaving them behind in this very personal album. “Live Oak” which opens with “There’s a man who walks besides me, he is who I used to be / I wonder if she sees him and confuses him with me.” which talks about a murderer who finds forgiveness in a woman.
I just absolutely love this album, I found that I’ve always defaulted to this album during my bus rides and walks. It just aids wandering perfectly.

This is a game that a lot of people have played. It’s one of the only mobile games that I’ve kept on my phone for quite a long time. I’ve actually had this game through 3 different phones over the years.. so that should say a lot about how much I like this game.
It’s a simple game really, the objective is to go as far as you can driving through hills. Just don’t run out of gas and hit your head. Those are the only ways to lose on this game.
I just adore this game for the simple reason that it just flows really well, it’s fun, it’s easy, it’s the perfect amount of challenging when you’re in situations where you can’t really set aside time to play a game. It’s a good on the go game that doesn’t require any commitment.
