Konami has announced the cancellation of Silent Hills, the ephemeral new entry in their horror franchise. With it came the takedown of P.T. from the Playstation Store, the removal of the ability to redownload the game for previous owners, and blowback against users attempting to sell PS4s with copies of the game on eBay.
Recently, NBA2K14 had its servers taken down by its publisher. While this is standard business practice for older games, especially sports titles, this one was especially notable because 2K14 was built around online play. Not only were multiplayer options removed, but players’ career modes, characters and single player progress was wiped as well.
In April 2015, the Entertainment Software Association declared that attempts to preserve abandoned games, even by archivists or museums, was illegal, calling it too close to piracy or hacking.

I remember visiting a friend’s place around the summer of 2012. He’s what people would call a “casual gamer” You know, the type of people who would only play Call of Duty, Madden, FIFA, etc. Before I was about to leave, he asked “Hey, have you heard about this new game called Watch Dogs? It looks pretty awesome! Finally a GTA style game set in our very own city!” I too was hyped, but I never actually got to play Watch Dogs until now.

These are initial impressions for Finding Teddy 2. Further thoughts to follow.
It’s difficult not to make the easy comparisons in Finding Teddy 2. It wears its influences on its sleeves. From the jumping animations, the introductory text scroll, and the character designs, Teddy purposefully invokes imagery of early Nintendo games to the point of homage.

CounterSpy was just what I needed. A platformer that isn’t at all fast paced, though it could be. More fun for less work. CounterSpy is a side-scrolling 2.5D stealth platformer that delivers the goods.

This Time It’s Persona is a series of essays on Persona 3 originally published on ashensiegarettes.
I am lying to you.
At this very moment I am being untruthful. It’s a fundamental truth of our society that we only show certain sides of ourselves to each other. At times we engage in a complicit lie, pretending to care about one another in order to achieve some fundamental goal. At this very moment I am choosing only to show this side of myself to you, to engage you on a “meaningful” level .This concept of the faces we wear around each other, the idea that the relationships we create are based not only on what we choose to share with each other, but we choose not to share, is at the core of the great game that us members of society play with each other.

In 2013 Compile Heart announced that they would be developing new jRPGs that weren’t the usual Neptunia fare they are known for. Aimed for the Japanese market, they wanted to stand out above the rest of the mainstream Japanese based companies who are now catering to the Western audience. They dubbed this project, “Galapagos RPG”. The first jRPG under that moniker was Fairy Fencer F and now the second game arrives, dubbed Omega Quintet, an interesting hybrid between an idol game and a jRPG. But will Compile Heart have a perfect song to for their audience?
