Manifesto + Ethics

*No review scores
You may have noticed here that we here are Clickbliss don’t provide review scores. When starting the site I felt that it was important that we avoided a grading system. While writing for other sites I always found that scores distracted from the content of the review. They lack nuance. Read our words then make up your own mind.

*We are NOT objective
This ties into the previous point, but we have no pretensions of being objective. Everyone’s experiences shape them and create a preference for certain experiences. I’ve never met a person who wasn’t biased in some way. Instead of attempting to achieve some ethereal definition of neutrality, we wear our biases on our sleeves. Hopefully as we grow that means readers can recognize these and either find a writer they align with, or learn to take those biases into account.

*We are personal
While some articles lend themselves better to this approach than others, I encourage writers to write in a way that makes their voice clear. Sometimes this leads to stupid in-jokes, and sometimes this moves into indulgent territory. That’s fine with me, it’s more interesting that way. I hope you agree.

*We are fair
With all that said, we do our best to give everything a fair assessment. That’s why we try to provide second opinions when we can. It gives a wider range of views on the subject.

*Disclosures:
-Most copies of the games we review are provided either by the publisher or the developer of the games in question. There are few bigger name titles that we pay for out of pocket, however. Aside from review embargoes and standard NDAs we don’t agree to specific conditions.

-Music reviews are paid out of pocket. No advance copies are provided.
